Standards-Based Assessments
Assessments are powerful tools. They have the ability to take a single snapshot of a student's understanding. However, assessments are not powerful tools if we do not utilize them properly! Once you've given and graded an assessment, be sure to do the following:
- Look for common trends in questions missed. Example: Did all of the questions missed involve addition with regrouping?
- Ask questions about the errors that the student made. Example: Did we spend enough time covering this concept before assessing?
- What steps will I take in moving forward to help my student gain mastery of these concepts? Example: Reteaching, Online Activities, Projects, etc.
